Brandon is especially into crafts right now, so we thought we would hold a preschool style craft party for all the kids. We were expecting around 15 kids, so we knew there needed to be a little structure to the event. We set out four tables with different craft activities and let the kids go! I was a little nervous about that amount of kids all at once, but nobody got overwhelmed and both Brandon and Noah had fun, so that's what is important.
I forgot to take pictures of the crafts in progress, so here's a representation:

Model Magic creations:
We also played with Wikki Stix but those creations never got photographed.
As for the cake, you probably know that I am currently committed to making cakes for my boys on their birthdays. But, being the iffy cake decorator that I am, I look for the easiest thing I can find. So, after the boys told me they wanted a "dinosaur cake like on Sid" (the Science Kid) I went searching for a simple super easy design. Hooray! I found one at Howdini. Bonus was that it came with a video! You can bet I was helpfully steering the boys toward that dinosaur cake from that moment on....
I love having the birthday parties at our house. It's just so much more relaxing for me and hopefully our friends, and gives the kids more play-time options. My aspirations? To hold parties like my childhood friend's mom did. I still remember them clearly...maybe someday I'll have the energy to create the room filled spiderweb treasure hunt!
The next party of the weekend was held only a few hours after our guests left. Dave and I were invited to participate in a Muder Mystery Dinner event at our friend's house. Never having been to one, we weren't sure what to expect, but it sounded like fun, even to our quiet selves. And it definitely was! Per his character, Dave, um, I mean the Congressman, was getting hit on almost the entire night...well, until the enamored woman discovered he was cheating on her and decided to "off" him. As for me, I got to play an innocent wife of an accountant. I was able to extract a lot of information from people, but still couldn't figure out exactly who committed the primary murder of the evening. It was such fun!
