Naptime? What naptime?

It's finally happening. Noah is starting to drop his nap. Of course, it doesn't help that his brother "sneaks" into their bedroom from the guest room during rest time to entertain Noah. But then, if Noah were actually sleeping, I suppose Brandon would just "sneak" right back.

Here we see what happens when both boys are awake and not really anxious for true downtime.

This happened a few days ago. They were doing a little more playing than resting, but during that time they never fought. What is it about the concept of "rest"? I suppose even at the youngest age, we know we need to rejuvenate...and if that doesn't mean sleep, peaceful play achieves a similar goal.

Of course, true quiet time is better. For me, definitely, but also for the kiddos. Today was the perfect example. Brandon was acting really tired all morning. Very physical, not listening well, you know the song. When he went for rest time he was so tired he even asked me to put his glasses up on the dresser, turn the lights out and tuck him in. I was sure he would fall asleep. But he didn't. Two hours later I still hadn't heard a peep out of him, so I decided to check and see if he was ready to get up. He was excited to see me and my kind, nice boy was back. And that was with no sleep at all. Just sitting quietly in his room resting and looking at books. Hallelujah! Mommy feels rested, boys feel rested and we're ready to conquer the rest of the day.
