My little Seedlings

After two years of sharing the Seedlings experience with Brandon, finally we get to bring Noah along. Seedlings is a fabulous preschool program at the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix. Ms. Shannon is an amazing teacher and I love that parents come too. I have learned so much and cherish the time my boys and I get to spend together learning about the natural world in which we live.

Noah chose to spend some class time reading a book about butterflies.

Brandon "painted" the back wall with mud.

We attend school together every Thursday morning and then eat our lunch in the garden. These are the invaluable memories I always hoped I would be able to create with my children.

This week we learned about Monarchs and their friend, the Milkweed plant. For those of you non-desert dwellers, you'll notice the Desert Milkweed looks quite different than the leafier variety, but the Monarchs love them just the same.

Ms. Shannon pointing out a monarch larvae (or caterpillar) to Brandon.

Noah discovering that male Monarchs have small black dots on their wings along a black line in the middle sections.
