Yee Haw!

Oh give me a home...where the buffalo roam....

And make it a covered wagon....

We spent Saturday doing what I would consider a truly Western activity. The Inaugural Chuck Wagon Cook-Off at Tumbleweed Ranch came to Chandler and we decided to put on our spurs and bonnets and enjoy a hearty meal cooked over the fire by those fine pioneers.

And, boy, was it delicious. Especially the beans and biscuits. There is nothing better than beans cooked in a dutch oven over a wood burning fire. (Well, except for my Grandpa's beans...they still are number one in my heart.) And the biscuits...melt in your mouth goodness. How can they make such delicious meals with only a few dutch ovens and an open fire?

The boys went on their first horsey rides.

They also made candles by dipping a wick in wax. Over and over and over again. I have a new appreciation for hand dipped candles.

Overall they had a great weekend with their cousins, having what we hope was a very "Arizona" experience!
