Bowled Away
Last weekend, we went bowling. It was hot hot hot and we were looking for something we could do as a family that would be fun for all. We figured bowling was just the thing (plus, I had a Groupon I needed to use!)
The boys were very excited as we entered the bowling alley, Brandon in particular. That boy loves his sports. The last time we bowled was almost exactly one year ago so I thought we would need a little refresher, but Brandon dove right in, no assistance needed. He even had the terms down, informing me on one of my first frames that I had a split and that it wasn't too hard to get both pins, I just had to knock one sideways. Ok, Brandon. No problem for this novice bowler. Sure, I'll just aim perfectly and knock one sideways. (I didn't, although the bumpers did help me out throughout the course of the afternoon.)
Noah, on the other hand, appears to be stuck in the land of perfection. He was extraordinarily disappointed every time he bowled because he didn't hit down all of the pins. Wow, that kid has pretty high expectations of himself. He finally did get a strike, after which point, he sat down and sipped his lemonade, deferring to big brother to finish out his game.
And finish them out, he did. Each time Brandon knocked down all the pins, he did a proverbial winners lap as he ran back to his seat, smiling large and pumping his fists in the air.
