It's the Little Things

It's the little things.

All week long, I've been gazing at my calendar, just waiting for today. A full day off from everything. No school, no play dates, no plans at all. Nothing written down. And a conscious decision to plan nothing for this lovely day as the week went on. We turned down story times, Peter Piper Pizza lunch plans, and park playdates. All for this day. Just for us.

We leisurely worked our way into the morning starting with a typical breakfast in pj's. Cinnamon raisin toast smothered in cream cheese, grapefruit, cereal, and blueberries were on the menu this morning. Oh, and coffee for mommy. Always coffee.

Somewhere around 9am, I admittedly became a little nervous. What if we let this whole day wander by without planning anything actually FUN with our time?! Or...wait, maybe that was the point? The planner in me was struggling. So, Brandon and I sat down and thought about what we could do for fun family time on this day. And this is what we planned...

1) Plant peas: except we didn't because as we were preparing, we read we needed to soak the peas overnight. So, we played in the backyard and picked grapefruit and oranges from the tree instead. Oh, and talked with Heather, reminding her of Noah's 5 baby prediction. Let's hope he doesn't prove to be a seer.

2) Have peanut butter pretzels for snack: Yes, food is just as important to my oldest son as it is to me and this was on the list for the day. The pretzels were rounded out by bananas and milk, and then....

3) Frozen Yogurt for lunch: You heard right. The sugar-conscious mother of the Forseth boys actually approved a lunch outing at a yogurt shop. YUMMMMM!

4) Library for books: And check them out we did. Noah even chose the same book twice. He claims one was for Brandon and one for him. What a sweet child.

5) Movie, popcorn, and hot cocoa: Singin' In the Rain, popcorn on the couch, and an intermission with hot chocolate. What better way to spend a leisurely family afternoon?

6) Storytime: Sitting on the couch with Mommy, reading our recent library check outs.

7) Dinner and play with Daddy: Can't wait for Daddy to get home!!!
